Microneedling

Service, Product https://data.lytleplasticsurgery.com/services/microneedling
Description

Patients who want to look younger and more rejuvenated can undergo a SkinPen microneedling treatment. This procedure will help make the skin produce more collagen, thus reversing signs of aging and providing the patient with a healthy glow.

Microneedling is also referred to as collagen induction therapy. It uses tiny microneedles to prick the skin, penetrating through the skin layers to create very small punctures. This will then stimulate the skin’s healing process, producing more elastin and collagen. These proteins help make the skin smoother, more youthful, and more elastic.

Lytle Plastic Surgery uses the ProGen PRP system in tandem with SkinPen to produce the best microneedling results. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is produced when a small amount of blood is drawn and placed into a sterile, disposable container and then, spun to separate the platelets from the blood sample. The combination of PRP with microneedling helps the effectiveness of the treatment as well as the healing process.

Process Overview

During a microneedling consultation, patients will be asked a series of questions pertaining to their goals, expectations, and overall health. Dr. Lytle will examine their cosmetic concerns to make sure that they can be effectively treated with microneedling.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that can be conducted in the office. It involves the use of a SkinPen, which houses 12 sterilized microneedles. The first step is the application of numbing cream on the target areas. A special gel is also applied to the skin, which will help the SkinPen smoothly glide over the skin.

Next, the SkinPen will be guided across the skin, allowing its microneedles to puncture the target areas for collagen production. It will take three passes to completely cover the spots with the right number of punctures to achieve the desired results. The entire procedure will last about 20 minutes or so, depending on the size of the target area.

No recovery time or downtime is needed after a treatment session. The special gel applied before the microneedling treatment helps in the rapid healing of the punctures created by the needles. This will be aided by another layer of the gel once the procedure is done to completely protect the sensitive skin.

The patient will be then provided a supply of this gel, which they will be instructed to apply for a time. Patients can expect to see results within four weeks following the procedure as new collagen is formed.
